Arcapta Side Effects
If you are using Arcapta, contact your healthcare provider right away if you develop breathing problems that become worse, a fast heart rate, or an unexplained rash. Fortunately, however, most reactions to this medicine are minor and easy to treat. Some of the most commonly reported side effects of Arcapta include nausea, headaches, and coughing.
An Introduction to Arcapta Side EffectsJust like any medicine, Arcapta™ (indacaterol maleate) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Arcapta. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)
Common Side Effects of ArcaptaArcapta has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of people using Arcapta were documented and then compared to the side effects that occurred in a similar group of people using a placebo (an inhaler that did not contain any active ingredients). As a result, it was possible to see what side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compared to the placebo.
In these studies, the most common Arcapta side effects included:
- Coughing -- in up to 6 percent of people
- A runny nose -- up to 5.3 percent
- Headaches -- up to 5.1 percent
- Nausea -- up to 2.4 percent
- Throat pain -- up to 2.2 percent.
