Brovana Overdose

Dry mouth, dizziness, irregular heart rhythm, and seizures are symptoms that may occur with an overdose of Brovana (arformoterol tartrate). Overdose effects will vary depending on how much Brovana is taken and whether it is taken with other drugs. Treatment for a Brovana overdose usually involves supportive care, which consists of treating the symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose.

 

Brovana Overdose: An Overview

Brovana® (arformoterol tartrate) is a prescription medication approved for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) treatment. The effects of a Brovana overdose will vary depending on a number of factors, including how much Brovana is taken and whether it is taken with any other medicines or substances.
 
If you happen to overdose on Brovana, seek medical attention immediately.
 

Symptoms of a Brovana Overdose

Brovana overdose symptoms may include:
 
  • Fast heart rate (tachycardia)
  • Dry mouth
  • Feelings of a rapidly or forcefully beating heart (heart palpitations)
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Insomnia
  • Nervousness
  • Headaches
  • Shakiness (tremor)
  • Chest pain (angina)
  • High blood pressure (hypertension) or low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Seizures
  • Irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
  • Fatigue
  • Low potassium in the blood (hypokalemia)
  • Cardiac arrest
  • Loss of life.
     

Treatment for a Brovana Overdose

Treatment for a Brovana overdose involves supportive care, which consists of treating the symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose. For example, supportive treatment options may include:
 
  • Medications to reverse the effect of Brovana (such as beta blockers), although such treatment should be used cautiously, as it may cause a worsening of COPD
  • Fluids through an intravenous line (IV)
  • Other treatments based on complications that occur.
     
It is important that you seek medical attention immediately if you believe that you may have overdosed on Brovana.
