Alupent Inhaler

People who are affected by bronchospasms might have been given the prescription drug Alupent® (metaproterenol sulfate). The inhaler form is no longer available in the United States. The manufacturer decided to stop making it in order to comply with regulations concerning chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), chemicals that may deplete the ozone layer. Had Alupent been more popular, the manufacturer might have chosen to reformulate the drug without CFCs, instead of just discontinuing it.
