Atrovent HFA Inhaler -- Information
If you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), your healthcare provider may recommend Atrovent® HFA (ipratropium HFA inhaler), an inhaler that is environmentally friendly. It is typically used four times a day and has been shown in clinical trials to improve the lung function of people with COPD, often within 15 minutes.
Although most people are able to use it without any problems, side effects are possible and may include:
- Upper respiratory tract infections such as the common cold
- Worsening of COPD
- Sinus infections.
To ensure your safety with the Atrovent HFA inhaler, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other medications you are taking, including nonprescription drugs and vitamins, as well as any allergies you may have. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
