Drug Interactions With Fluticasone HFA

Among the drugs that can potentially interact with fluticasone HFA are certain antibiotics or antifungals (such as erythromycin and clarithromycin) and protease inhibitors (such as amprenavir or atazanavir). Drug interactions with fluticasone HFA can increase your risk of side effects by raising the level of fluticasone HFA in your blood. An Introduction to Drug Interactions With Fluticasone HFA

Fluticasone HFA (Flovent® HFA) is an environmentally-friendly inhaler used to prevent asthma attacks. "HFA" stands for hydrofluoroalkane, which is the propellant used in fluticasone HFA inhalers.
 
Fluticasone HFA can potentially interact with some other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to fluticasone HFA interactions include:
 
  • Certain antibiotics or antifungals, including:

 

    • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
    • Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
    • Isoniazid (Nydrazid®)
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Miconazole
    • Telithromycin (Ketek®)
