Is Fluticasone HFA Used in Children With Asthma?

Fluticasone HFA is approved for the treatment of asthma in children four years of age and older. Young children usually require help using the fluticasone HFA inhaler correctly. Be sure to talk with your healthcare provider about the best ways to treat childhood asthma. Inhaled steroids, such as fluticasone HFA, may slightly slow the growth of children or teenagers.

Is Fluticasone HFA Used "Off-Label"?

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend fluticasone HFA for something other than preventing asthma attacks. This is referred to as an "off-label" use of the medication. At this time, fluticasone HFA is used off-label to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
