When and How to Take Ipratropium Bromide Inhalation Solution

Some general considerations for when and how to take ipratropium bromide inhalation solution include the following:
 
  • Ipratropium bromide inhalation solution is a liquid form of ipratropium bromide that is used in a nebulizer. You will need to purchase or rent a nebulizer in order to use ipratropium bromide inhalation solution.
 
  • Make sure you know exactly how to use and clean the nebulizer.
 
 
  • For ipratropium bromide inhalation solution to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Ipratropium bromide inhalation solution will not work if you stop taking it.
 

Who Makes Ipratropium Bromide Inhalation Solution?

Brand-name ipratropium bromide inhalation solution was originally made by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, but is no longer manufactured. Fortunately, generic forms of ipratropium bromide inhalation solution are still available (see Generic Atrovent Inhalation Solution for more information).
 

Ipratropium Bromide Inhalation Solution Strengths

Brand-name ipratropium bromide inhalation solution is no longer manufactured. Generic ipratropium bromide inhalation solution is available in one strength, ipratropium bromide 0.02% (2.5 mL single-use vials that contain 500 mcg of ipratropium bromide per vial). It comes in packs of 25, 30, 60, or 120 vials.
