Levalbuterol, a prescription drug, is approved to treat or prevent certain respiratory conditions, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The drug is used in a nebulizer (a device that changes liquid medications into fine droplets that are inhaled into the lungs), and is also available in an inhaler. Before taking this drug, tell your healthcare provider if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or any allergies. While most people tolerate the drug well, side effects may occur. Common ones include nervousness, shakiness, and runny nose.
