People who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) may benefit from Spiriva® (tiotropium bromide). This prescription medication works to prevent airway spasms by causing the smooth muscles of the airways to relax. This helps to keep the airways open and prevent bronchospasms. Although most people tolerate Spiriva well, it is not suitable for everyone. Make sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you may have and any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements) before starting treatment with this drug.
