Precautions and Warnings With Terbutaline

Terbutaline may have a stimulatory effect on the heart and blood pressure in some people, which can lead to symptoms like a fast heart rate, high or low blood pressure, and irregular heart rhythms. Also, there are certain conditions that you should let your healthcare provider know about before you take terbutaline (such as diabetes and high blood pressure). Some other precautions and warnings with terbutaline to be aware of include potential drug interactions, the safety of taking terbutaline while pregnant, and people who shouldn't take the drug.

  • Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Breastfeeding.
     
You should also make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are currently taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
