Xopenex HFA Drug Interactions

Medicines that may potentially cause Xopenex HFA drug interactions include monoamine oxidase inhibitors, beta blockers, and tricyclic antidepressants. These interactions can decrease the effectiveness of the drugs and increase your risk for side effects, including dangerously high blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm, or low potassium levels. To help reduce the risk of developing drug interactions with Xopenex HFA, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you may currently be taking.

 

Xopenex HFA Drug Interactions: An Overview

Xopenex HFA® (levalbuterol HFA) can potentially interact with a few other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to Xopenex HFA interactions include:
 
  • Beta blockers, such as:
o Bisoprolol (Zebeta®)
o Nadolol (Corgard®)
o Sotalol (Betapace®)
o Timolol (Blocadren®)
  • Certain diuretics, such as:
  • Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
     
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
